Notice to the Public – TRE Service Changes for October 2016

A community meeting will be held tomorrow at the Fort Worth ITC Station to receive comments on proposed TRE service changes planned for Oct. 24, 2016. The meeting will be at noon. In addition to the Aug. 6 community meeting, there will be another community meeting at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 8, in the Council Chambers at Irving City Hall.

A public hearing has been set for Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m., in the Board Room at DART Headquarters.

The objective of the proposed TRE service change is to increase frequencies for all commuters and simplify TRE schedules; highlights include:

  • Improving weekday peak period frequency to 30 minutes
  • Improving midday, evening and Saturday frequency between Dallas and Fort Worth to 60 minutes
  • Providing later Friday and Saturday service between Dallas and Fort Worth
  • Beginning Saturday service three hours earlier
  • Increasing special event service

Based on input gathered at the meetings and hearing, the DART Board of Directors will act on these changes in September 2016 with implementation occurring on Oct. 24, 2016. All comments (written or oral) received during these meetings will be considered in evaluating the proposals.

Process for Receiving Comments
The DART Board of Directors encourages public comments on the night of the public hearing or in writing beforehand. Those desiring to speak should contact DART Community Engagement at 214-749-2543 to register. Advance registration will be accepted until 1 p.m. on the day of the hearing. Those who have not pre-registered may sign up immediately before the hearing begins, and will be scheduled to speak after those who have already preregistered. In addition, written comments received any time before the hearing is adjourned will become part of the official hearing record.
