Spring into April Events in Fair Park

State Fair childrenFair Park in Dallas plays host to a number of events this month that attract and delight North Texans of all ages. And the best part: it’s DARTable.

Check out “Temple Spirit,” a play by Susan Felder, which will be performed April 14-16 at Echo Theatre.

On April 14, King Racing Group and Bicycle Plus present the Fair Park 2016 Criterium Series. Cyclists of all skill levels have the opportunity to race under the shadows of the Texas Star Ferris Wheel! The race is held every Thursday until Sept. 8.

Get Kidz Fit Fest 2016 is a free fun-filled extravaganza designed to educate kids and their families on wellness and nutrition, while engaging them in a range of healthy, fun lifestyle activities. This year’s event is being held April 16 in Centennial Hall.

A Fair Park Walking Tour is scheduled for April 20. The same day, Dallas Summer Musicals debuts “Wicked” at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Performances of “Wicked” will run through May 22.

Another April highlight is Earth Day Texas, an annual outdoor festival that strives to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way Texans think, live and work. This free, three-day, family-friendly event takes place April 22-24.

On April 27, Whole Foods Market Presents the Dallas Observer Iron Fork. This grand tasting event features a Chef Challenge moderated by restaurateur Kent Rathbun. Attendees will enjoy tastings from local restaurants, live music, wine, beer and cocktail samplings.

The Boom 94.5 Music Festival – “The Evolution of Hip Hop” – wraps up the April events. Gates will open at 1 p.m. on April 30 at this exciting, multicultural event for the entire family. Master P, Mystikal, Silkk, the Shocker and Big Daddy Kane are just some of the performing artists.

To reach Fair Park, take DART’s Green Line to Fair Park Station, located on Parry Avenue at the entrance to the fairgrounds, or MLK, Jr. Station, located south of R.B. Cullum Boulevard and a block from Gate 6, which is near the Cotton Bowl.
