Celebrate the reopening of Downtown Plano’s McCall Plaza

Downtown Plano McCall Plaza 2016 KP3

This weekend, it’s a party in Downtown Plano April 15-16 as the city celebrates the grand re-opening of McCall Plaza, a small park nestled between The Fillmore Pub and the DART Rail tracks.

On Friday at 4:30 p.m., Mayor Harry LaRosiliere will speak and officially open the new outdoor stage and completely renovated plaza. Immediately following will be live music from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Bluegrass Band.

Saturday’s full day of performances begins at 10 a.m. with local arts groups including:

  • Art Centre Theatre
  • Chamberlain Ballet
  • Collin County Ballet Theatre
  • Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra
  • Edge Dance & Performing Arts
  • Plano Children’s Theatre
  • Plano Community Band
  • Plano Dance Theatre
  • Plano International Festival
  • Plano Metropolitan Ballet
  • SHINE Plano

At 7 p.m., the celebration wraps up with award-winning blues musicians Joe and Vicki Price.

DART is the best way to get to the festivities since Downtown Plano Station will be in the heart of it all. Park remotely at Parker Road Station, CityLine/Bush Station or anywhere along the DART Rail System and take the Red Line to downtown.

Slightly larger than a half acre, McCall Plaza is designed as a flexible outdoor space with a covered stage designed for musical performance. The park is named for the late David B. McCall Jr., one of Plano’s most influential mayors.
