Rider Insider: Ride DART to Fourth of July events this weekend

Celebrate the birth of our nation at any of several larger-than-life fireworks displays and Independence Day events throughout the DART Service Area. DART will get your family to and from the festivities in air-conditioned comfort. Here’s a sampling of the summer’s biggest parties.

July 3

Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration honors America’s independence with free live music and spectacular fireworks at the Farmers Branch Historical Park, 2540 Farmers Branch Lane. Tour the historic buildings, indulge in delicious concessions and enjoy kids’ activities. Park gates open at 6:30 p.m. with fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m. Information: farmersbranchtx.gov. July 4

Fair Park Fourth celebration starts with the Dallas 7/4 race in the morning and finishes with Dallas’ official fireworks display at night. In between, you and your family can enjoy all that Fair Park has to offer, including the Midway, an Esplanade Fountain show, music from Dixie Land Band, A Hard Night’s Day, and the Dallas Wind Symphony and much more. Star-Spangled Spectacular! with the Dallas Wind Symphony will have you feeling red, white and blue from the top of your stovepipe hat to the tips of your star-spangled shoes. The show begins at 1 p.m. at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. Information:www.dws.org. (Via any rail line to Pearl/Arts District Station)

Note: DART buses and light rail will operate on a Saturday schedule Friday, July 3. A Sunday schedule will be observed on both Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5. Trinity Railway Express trains will be on a modified Saturday schedule July 3. There will be no TRE service Saturday or Sunday.
