DART and the State Fair of Texas are making it easier than ever to buy your general admission fair tickets. In addition to buying your transit passes, this year you can also use DART’s GoPass app for Android and iOS smartphones to buy your State Fair of Texas general admission tickets.

How do I buy tickets?

photoIf you don’t already have GoPass, download it from your app store. Follow the instructions setting up your account and visit gopass.biz for any questions or for more information about how it works.
Existing GoPass users, please make sure your app is updated to the latest version.

Open up the app and select Buy Tickets. Select Special Events (it should be at the bottom of the list). Finally, select State Fair and you’ll reach the screen to select how many and what types of State Fair and transit tickets you’d like to buy.

This page (right) gives you the chance to buy as many Adult and Child/Senior State Fair tickets and Adult and Child/Senior transit passes as you need. You can buy all of your family’s State Fair and transit tickets with one smartphone.

How do I use the tickets?

photo 1On the day you plan on going to the State Fair, activate your State Fair tickets by sliding the activate bar to the right. Your ticket should turn from grey to green and be pulsing. To expedite admittance into the State Fair of Texas, please have GoPass open on your smartphone and your general admission ticket(s) ready to be scanned when approaching the gate. The ticket-taker will scan each State Fair of Texas general admission ticket admitting you to a day full of fried food and fun.

A State Fair ticket is valid to be scanned only once. Those that want to leave and re-enter the State Fair need to get a hand-stamp by a State Fair ticket-taker.

Important Note: ACTIVATED GoPass State Fair tickets are only valid for the day they are activated. Please do not activate your ticket until the day plan to attend the State Fair of Texas.

My credit card info needs to be updated & I CANNOT FIND THE LINK TO ADD MY NEW CARD INFORMATION…

  2. Mike Walker says:

is it cheaper to buy the Dart pass and the Fair ticket together? Or are same price ($17.00 for fair, $5 for local day pass, total $22.00)?

    • Travis Hudson says:

Mike, within you app you buy the two tickets separately. The DART day pass is $5 (normal price) and the State Fair adult general admission ticket is $15, which is $2 off the gate price.

  3. Debra Crawford says:

Would this be beneficial for 2 Seniors over 60 who want to attend on a “Free Fair Thursday” ?

    • Travis Hudson says:

Debra, you can still use GoPass to buy your transit tickets to get to the State Fair, but none of the specials like Free Fair Thursday and others are available through GoPass. We have our own special for $2 off any time.

  4. Lauren says:

When I arrived in the morning there was a line of about 20 GoPass users who could not enter at the main entrance of the Fair because none of the attendants had the necessary scanner.

It was the third day of the fair and they still weren’t prepared. I would hope in the future that there would be at least one person at each entrance with the dedicated purpose of scanning in GoPass users rather than having someone run and find a scanner device AFTER someone shows up with a GoPass.

  5. Melissa says:

What if u need to use the T can we use the go pass for the T as well?

  6. batyl says:

Are there buses that go to the fair as in the past? Don’t want to take the train. It used to be there were buses on Sat and Sun that went to the fair.

    • Travis Hudson says:

On Saturday, October 11, there is special bus service from Bachman, Bush Turnpike, Mockingbird, Trinity Mills, Victory or Pearl/Arts District stations for the Texas-OU game. Otherwise, there are a few bus routes that service that area including the 595, 111, 409, 60 and others. Visit our trip planner at tripplan.dart.org to get more details.

  7. Dawn Wilson says:

If i buy my fair tickets through dart and i am coming from Austin where do i go to catch the dart and how much is it for one day? Or would it be more economical to just pay the 15 dollars to park at the fair.

    • Travis Hudson says:

If you’re coming up 35, the furthest south station we have is Ledbetter Station. You can park there for free and take the Blue Line north to downtown and transfer to a Green Line towards Fair Park. It’s $5 for a day pass.

  8. Michelle says:

We are coming in from Houston and staying at Hyatt Place in Arlington. What would be our closest DART station and our route??

  9. Dennis says:

I’m coming from fortworth on the tre. What pass do I need to purchase? $5 or $10?

    • Travis Hudson says:

If you’re coming from further west than the CentrePort TRE Station, you’ll need the $10 regional pass.

  10. Susanne says:

What if I don’t have one of those phones? Can I still buy tickets and where do I go to catch the train. Is there on on handley ederville rd

    • Travis Hudson says:

You can still ride DART without GoPass, you’ll just need to buy paper tickets at the station and at the fair.

Visit tripplan.dart.org to find your nearest station and plan your trip.

  11. Jazz says:

is there any way to get a refund on the ticket or any way to switch the ticket to another phone?

    • Travis Hudson says:

Please contact customer service at 214-979-1111.

    • tiffany Tribble says:

DART will NOT refund the tickets. Period. I have contacted them multiple times for a refund to no avail.

DART was not able to get us to the fair on the day we attempted to visit due to transit issues and will still not refund tickets. DART refers us to the state fair contact us email address… we never received a response.

I filed a claim with my bank and got a refund that way.

  12. Leslie says:

I could not find anything stating how long passes were good for and activated my pass tonight at 9:10 pm. I intend to use it tomorrow. Is there a way to reactivate it? Also are the tickets transferable to someone else?

    • DART Daily says:

It states in the post above: Important Note: ACTIVATED GoPass State Fair tickets are only valid for the day they are activated. Please do not activate your ticket until the day plan to attend the State Fair of Texas.

      Please contact customer service at 214-979-1111 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

  13. Cynthia says:

If I am taking the TRE from North Richland Hills where should I get off and should I get $5 or $10

    • Travis Hudson says:

Hop off at Victory Station and take a southbound Green Line train to Fair Park Station. You will need to purchase a regional ($10) transit pass.
