It’s a sizzling summer for movies with record-breaking films popping up on the big screen. Whether you’re in the mood for a good laugh or a good cry, we’re your ride to DARTable movie theaters. Hop on board, grab a bucket of popcorn and soak up some cinema.

Angelika Film Center, located near Mockingbird Station, has become a Dallas institution, and for good reason. A mix of indie and mainstream releases offers something for everyone, and the great sightlines and comfy chairs make for an intimate cinema experience.

The Magnolia also screens both art films and blockbusters, and has a full bar in-house, where you can hang out before or after the movie. The stylish theater, which has won numerous best-of awards, is in the heart of West Village, about a three-block walk from Cityplace/Uptown Station and right along the M-Line Trolley line.

Alamo Drafthouse, the Austin-born, dine-in theater, has two locations that are especially DARTable. One is in the Cedars neighborhood, near Convention Center Station. The other is located in Irving’s Toyota Music Factory. a short walk from Irving Convention Center Station. Both feature great sound, awesome sightlines, and large screens that provide optimal viewing. Both also have a lounge that’s perfect for before- or after-movie drinks.

Downtown Garland’s historic square hosts a different kind of movie experience. The Plaza Theatre is a multi-use space, but the art deco gem periodically screens free movies with concessions at very cool price. Check listings for the next freebie – typically, they’re crowd-pleasing classics. The circa-1941 landmark is about three blocks from Downtown Garland Station.

If you’re in the mood for a wide selection of more mainstream fare, DART’s got you covered there, too. AMC NorthPark 15is a short ride on Bus Route 702 from Park Lane Station on the Red or Orange Line. And you can get to AMC Firewheel 18in Garland by taking the Blue Line to Downtown garland Station, then hopping on Bus Route 513.

Building a Better Experience for You!

DART is making major improvements. To create a smoother ride through downtown Dallas and reduce service interruptions, track improvements are under way and will continue until September. During that time, DART Rail in Downtown Dallas will be discontinued each weekend between Pearl/Arts District and West End stations. Bus bridges will be in operation. DART.org/plus
