Did you know that nearly one in five American children is obese? The consequences of obesity are many, but the solution is straightforward: better diet and exercise. Get Kidz Fit Fest is a fun way to approach healthy lifestyle changes. The free event brings hundreds of organizations together in the Centennial Building at Fair Park, in a collaborative effort to fight childhood obesity and promote fitness and good health. This year's event is themed “Run, Learn & Play @ Fair Park.” Take them up on that offer, and get the whole family on the Green Line to Fair Park Station on April 13. At the event, you’ll find 67,000 square feet of interactive fitness activities, hands-on nutrition lessons, fun games, a kids’ race, obstacle courses and various sorts of entertainment. There are even prizes. The North Texas Food Bank provides bags of fresh produce for each family to take home. The Oncor Kids’ Race begins at 10 a.m.; the festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Help reduce childhood obesity and have fun doing it!   DARTPlusBanner DART is making major improvements. To create a smoother ride through downtown Dallas and reduce service interruptions, track improvements and rail replacement began March 30 and will last for roughly six months. During that time, DART Rail in downtown Dallas will be discontinued each weekend between Pearl/Arts District Station and West End Station. Separate shuttle routes will be in operation. Thanks for bearing with us as we build a better future for North Texas. DART.org/plus.
