Christmas Day has come and gone, but holiday celebrations are far from over. New Year’s Eve is still ahead. And, there are several events in downtown Dallas that are convenient to DART Rail.

On New Year’s Eve, Freeze the Keys with a FREE NYE DART Ride. From 6 p.m. through the end of service New Year's Eve, Coors Light and DART are delivering free rides on all buses, trains, paratransit services and the TRE between Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station. No passes or coupons required!

There are other events to keep you entertained until then, and DART can get you there.

Through Jan. 6

Skating Under the Stars is just what the name implies – an outdoor ice rink that is open well into the evening. The rink is open 12 noon-10 p.m. seven days a week through Jan. 6 (except New Year's Day). It’s all part of Christmas in the Branch, Farmers Branch’s holiday event that runs through Jan. 6. The rink is in front of the Dr Pepper StarCenter. While you’re there, stroll through the holiday lights at The Grove and Liberty Plaza, both in the same general area – a short walk from Famers Branch Station on the Green Line.

Saturday, Dec. 29- Sunday, Jan. 20

Clowning Around with Murder opens Dec. 29 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson and runs through Jan. 20. The play takes place in 1935 at the Fripson Clown College, where somebody has murdered the school's founder. Enter Harry Hunsacker, world famous detective and aspiring actor, who must solve the case along with his assistant, Nigel Grouse. Pegasus Theatre’s production uses the theater company’s Living Black & White™ technique. The lighting is all in black, white and grey, mimicking an old black and white film. The venue is a few steps from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.

Monday, Dec. 31 – New Year’s Eve

The Royal Masquerade Ball is a stylish New Year's Eve event with an open bar, full casino, hors d'oeuvres and complimentary champagne. There will be two rooms – one with a casino and another with hip-hop mashups and an open bar. The evening festivities take place at the West End Event Center, located about a quarter mile north of West End Station, which is served by all four DART lines.

Royalty NYE at the Old Red Museum in downtown Dallas is a masquerade with casino games, champagne and great views of the fireworks at Reunion Tower. Bravo TV calls it the sixth best New Year's Eve party in the world. The Old Red Museum is located roughly halfway between West End Station and Union Station. West End Station is served by all four DART Rail lines, and Union Station is served by the Red and Blue line plus the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).

Korbel Presents the 4th Annual Triple Crown NYE at Union Station is a classic, grown-up New Year’s Eve experience, with eclectic music, a beautiful setting and a strictly enforced dress code. The celebration takes place at the historic Union Station, served directly by the Red and Blue lines and the TRE.

New Year's Eve Black & White Party is The Statler's inaugural New Year's Eve event. A recreation of Truman Capote's “Party of the Century” in 1966, the bash will have a live band, an open bar and dancing. The party takes place in the building’s historic ballroom. The Statler is a four-block walk south from St. Paul Station, which is served by all four DART Rail lines.

All the above New Year’s Eve events require tickets. Follow the links for more information.

Tues., Jan. 1

Taking place in Centennial Hall at Fair Park from 3-7 p.m., the event features a variety of children's activities. There will be arts and crafts, bounce houses, amusement rides, live reptiles, karaoke, LEGO® building and live entertainment. The grand finale is a firework show. Doors open at 3 p.m., and the fireworks happen at 7 p.m. The event is hosted by Vogel Alcove, an organization that helps young children overcome the effects of homelessness.
