The Revolution Begins with Just a Tap

Experience GoPass Tap, the new reloadable transit card that gives you the best fare every time you ride. With GoPass Tap, you save without upfront cost or commitment.

Like a prepaid card, you load value onto your GoPass Tap account in advance of riding. Then, you simply tap your card to a reader any time you board or transfer on a DART bus or train, and your fare is deducted automatically. However, you do not need to tap when you exit a bus or train. Play the video to learn more about how it works.

There is no activation or reload fee, and you can reload your card at hundreds of participating retailers, online at or by calling DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111.

Also, you can recover your account balance if your card is ever lost or stolen, so long as your card is registered. To register, simply visit

Capture 4

Even better, by registering, GoPass Tap helps you get the best deal with every trip through fare capping. That means you’ll never pay more than the total cost of a Day Pass (Local or Reduced) in a single day; or a Monthly Pass (Local or Reduced) in a calendar month.

Here’s one example of how fare capping works with the new GoPass Tap card: At 10 a.m., you tap your way aboard a bus, and the system automatically charges you $2 for a Midday Pass. When you board another bus at 1 p.m., there’s no charge — you’re still covered by your Midday Pass. When you tap aboard a third bus at 3 p.m., the system charges you an additional $3 for a PM Pass. Your total trip cost $5 — still less than a Day Pass!

GoPass Tap is the revolutionary new way to ride and save. Uncash your commute by picking up a card today. For a list of participating retailers, click here. (link to

Thanks for your feedback, Vincent! We’re glad you enjoy using the GoPass Tap card.

  2. Mark Anderson says:

Does GoPass work on the TRE?

    • Krystal-Rose Agu says:

Hi, Mark. Yes, both the GoPass app and the GoPass Tap card work on the TRE. You can use the GoPass Tap card for travel on the TRE between Union and CentrePort Station. Of that route, CentrePort is the only TRE station that does not currently have readers, however they will be installed soon. Until then, passengers boarding at CentrePort will only be able to tap their card on their return trip. Conductors and all Fare Enforcement personnel are aware and will inspect accordingly.

  3. Howard Maher says:

How does Fare Enforcement know that one is good to go?

    • Krystal-Rose Agu says:

Hi, Howard. Fare Enforcement Officers have handheld devices, which they use to verify that someone tapped his or her card at the card reader before boarding.
