Happy Thanksgiving! After the feast is over – and even before – there’s plenty to do in North Texas. From sporting events to theater, music and even a craft beer happening, DART can take you to these events.

Thursday, Nov. 22

The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot continues as a tradition of more than 50 years. It offers 5K and 8-mile races in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. at Dallas City Hall Plaza, and the main races start at 9 a.m. City Hall is a 10-minute walk from Union Station on the Red and Blue lines. The Trinity Railway Express does not operate on Thanksgiving Day. Proceeds support the YMCA.

Friday, Nov. 23

The Dallas Stars hit the ice to take on the Ottawa Senators tonight at American Airlines Center. Face-off is at 7 p.m. Take the Green Line to Victory Station, and you’re right at the arena.

Saturday, Nov. 24

Yiruma comes to The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory to showcase his exceptional piano work, which combines New Age and classical. The venue is a 9-minute walk from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line.

The Great Distance Home opens today at Addison’s WaterTower Theater. Told nearly without words, the story is about a boy with a fertile imagination. When growing up begins to stifle it, he sets out on a journey and makes unexpected discoveries. The play runs through Dec. 13. The theater is a 4-minute walk from Addison Transit Center.

Saturday, Nov. 24-Sunday, Nov. 25

12 Days of Holiday Beer features a dozen local breweries joining the Dallas Arboretum for a day each in the Val Late Garden. On Friday, Celestial Beerworks will be there, with their emphasis on IPAs and other hoppy concoctions. Saturday, you can sample White Rock Ale House’s wares. The Arboretum’s neighbor offers a wide variety of top-notch brews. The events take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and you can get there by taking Bus Route 60 to Garland Road and Lakeland Drive. The route departs from Union Station on the Red and Blue lines, as well as the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).

The Harlem Globetrotters bring their new Fan Powered World Tour to American Airlines Center for two nights of Thanksgiving weekend fun. Expect basketball wizardry and action-packed family entertainment. After the games, the iconic team will stick around for autographs and photos. American Airlines Center is right at Victory Station on the Green Line.

Sunday, Nov. 25

Ultimate Dinosaurs at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is something you need to see.  It's a fascinating exhibit revealing a newly discovered species of dinosaurs. There are 15 dinosaur casts, more than a dozen specimens, lifelike recreations, touchable fossils and more. The Perot Museum is a short walk from West End or Akard station on all four DART Rail lines.
