This Saturday is your chance to fit in one last Oktoberfest before the month is over. Come down to the Downtown Plano Arts District for Steinfest, an Oktoberfest-style event hosted by the Historic Downtown Plano Association that celebrates outstanding beer, great food and the right kind of polka music to get you and your friends dancing in the street. Steinfest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The festival will take over the two parking lots closest to 15th Street, so DART is the best way to get to all of the fun. Park at Parker Road Station, CityLine/Bush Station or anywhere else in the system, and take the Red Line to Downtown Plano Station. Buy your passes in advance on the free GoPass app, but don’t activate them until the day you go. An Adult Local Day Pass is only $5 and children 5-14 and seniors 65+ ride at a reduced rate. McCall Plaza will be the center of entertainment with acts, including the Flying Balalaika Brothers and the Chardon Polka Band. Tour the craft vendors along 15th Street. If your wiener dogs have fashion and flair, sign them up for the Steinfest wiener dog fashion show. Bring the children for crafts and games. Then sign yourself up for Keg Bowling, the Stein Racing Contest and the Masskrugstemmen (strong man) competition. Don't forget your camera. Check out the entertainment schedule on the Steinfest website.
