Up, Up and Away – Plano Balloon Festival Lifts Off Sept. 23-25

Explore Plano’s signature community event, the InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival, Sept. 23-25 in Oak Point Park. More than 40 balloons will take to the skies to mark the 37th year of ballooning in Plano.

Getting to this DARTable event is a breeze – parking is free at Parker Road Station, or you can take a train or bus there. Then soar to the park on the free “Balloon Flyer” bus service, which boards on Archerwood Street next to the station. Busses run continuously during festival operating hours.

plano-balloon-festival-resized_smaller_glowBalloons launch at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Balloon glows are at 8 p.m. Here’s the general festival schedule so you can plan ahead:

  • Friday, 4-10 p.m.
  • Saturday, 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Sunday, 6 a.m.-7 p.m.

Enjoy live entertainment on two stages, a spectacular Saturday evening fireworks show, special kids activities, skydivers – and balloon glows and launches, of course!

Discover fabulous food, great merchandise and handmade products. If you crave a different view of the festival, tethered balloon rides are available this year.

It’s all happening at Oak Point Park, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway. Admission for kids 36 inches and under is free. Seniors 65 and older get $1 off. Everyone else can buy a one-time entry for $5.
