Take Transit to Taverns

The Dallas area offers a lot of variety to the thirsty citizen – whether it’s craft cocktails, a dive bar, a wine bar or a brewpub you’re hankering for, our burgs are full of establishments competing for your drinking dollar. Here are some of the better ones in town. Best of all, they’re all DARTable!

The Cedars Social. This inviting, sorta ’70s-ish lair of “mixology” is located cater-corner from the South Side Lofts. The full kitchen serves semi-upscale eats, but the cocktail menu is what packs’em in at this Cedars favorite. From classics to signature originals, you can count on expert mixing and a good stiff pour. It’s only a block from Cedars Station at 1326 S. Lamar St.

Ten Bells Tavern. Ten Bells is the perfect place to have a brew and hang out. There’s a great beer selection, way-better-than-it-has-to-be bar fare, and plenty of picnic tables in a backyard-style setting. Located near the D-Link, and soon the Bishop Arts District stop of the Dallas Streetcar, at 232 W. Seventh St.

The Lion and the Crown. This Addison Circle watering hole takes being a British pub seriously. In addition to a wide selection of British – and craft — beers on tap, you’ll find great drinks and authentic, traditional British food. It’s a good spot to catch the big game on T.V. or, in the winter, to get cozy by the fireplace. There’s live music on weekends. It’s a short walk from Addison Transit Center at 5001 Addison Circle.

Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery. Garland’s excellent answer to the brewpub craze is within easy walking distance of Downtown Garland Station. Intrinsic has dozens of seasonally selected beers on tap, exposed brick walls, and a super-cool industrial-chic rooftop patio, as well. Located at 509 W. State St.

Vickery Park (Plano). They’ve got an extensive menu and a huge selection of craft beers in a prime historic location in Plano, but the good folks at this DARTable Gem are keeping it real with the friendly vibe of a neighborhood bar and grill. Their upscale pub fare can’t be beat, and they’re open for lunch or Sunday brunch. Right around the corner from Downtown Plano Station at 1011 E. 15th St.
