Senator Royce West: DART is a Model for Other Agencies to Follow

Senator Royce West shares his thoughts on 20 years of DART Rail:

Royce West“DART has become a model for other agencies to follow. DART was the first transit agency in Texas to open and operate a light rail line, but has not rested on its laurels. In the span of 20 years, it has doubled its light rail network in size – twice! And in these days of limited resources and tight bottom lines, DART projects have consistently come in ahead of schedule and on budget.

Thanks to DART, millions of North Texans have grown accustomed to the choices available to them in how they get to work, school, and numerous destinations. DART Rail is a part of the fabric of our communities. I’m equally proud of DART’s willingness to invest in growing and connecting communities. In October, DART Rail will reach the campus of UNT-Dallas creating new mobility options and greater opportunities. Looking back at the start of DART Rail 20 years ago it’s now hard to imagine North Texas without it.”
