Love the zoo? Then DART over to the Dallas Zoo because today is National Zoo Lovers Day. The Red Line will drop you off right at the Dallas Zoo Station, so there’s no need to hassle with driving or parking.
Something you don’t want to miss while at the zoo is Nature Connects®, a sculpture show created by artist Sean Kenney using LEGO bricks. The exhibit is open until April 10 and is free with Zoo admission. The installation features 16 displays created from 24 sculptures depicting scenes from the natural world, each carefully built with thousands of LEGO pieces.
Another can’t miss activity while at the zoo is the Wilds of Africa Adventure Safari. The monorail has been newly renovated and offers a birds-eye view of five African habitats not accessible by foot: the mountains of Ethiopia, the woodlands of Kenya, the Great Rift Valley, the arid Saharan Desert, and the bush of the Serengeti in Tanzania. The trains ease along at 3-4 mph on a one-mile loop around the back side of the zoo’s 106 acres.
