Dallas Black Dance Theatre is not only Dallas’ only full-time professional dance company – it is a true regional gem, which has performed works by renowned choreographers for 40 years. The troupe’s programs are steeped in both modern dance and African movement traditions, and the results are often breathtaking.
The company has performed internationally, but calls the Arts District home. April 8-9 would be a great chance to check them out, as DBDT II – the group’s second company – performs its annual Spring Fiesta! This year’s program features “Country Blues,” a dramatic story set to music by the likes of Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline.
Modern dance’s next generation of artists takes the stage at Dallas City Performance Hall – a short walk from Pearl/Arts District Station.
