• Ride the DART Rail Red LineBlue Line or Orange Line to Mockingbird Station for the Asian Film Festival of Dallas. AFFD celebrates its 13th year of bringing an ever-growing audience films that often cannot be seen on the big screen outside of their countries of origin. For one week each summer, festival-goers and filmmakers escape the Texas heat with a variety of feature films and shorts, from all genres around the globe. Showings are at the Angelika Film Center, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane. Information: asianfilmdallas.com. • Ride the DART Rail Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station Saturday for Garland Cars, Cooking and Blues Fest from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will be held in Garland's Historic Downtown Square, corner of 6th and Main Street. New and classic cars and trucks will fill the square, a variety of food trucks will provide plenty of tasty fare and a number of shopping possibilities will also be on hand from local vendors. The kid's area will feature "Art of the Hatter" hat creations, sand art and face painting, while plenty of live music will fill the air for all to enjoy. Don't miss the appearance by "The Texas Bluesmobile" which is a fantastic replica of the vehicle from the 1980's hit movie "Blues Brothers." Information: visitgarlandtx.com.
