Everything to know about taking DART to New Year’s Eve events

Skip the parking hassle and party responsibly: Let DART be your New Year’s Eve transportation.

Until midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 31, DART buses, rail and the TRE will operate a normal weekday schedule. After midnight, DART Rail will operate Red, Blue, Green and Orange Line trains every 30 minutes until 2 a.m. with additional Red and Orange service at Victory Station after the Big D NYE celebration. The TRE will also run one additional train westbound from Victory Station 20 minutes after the Big D NYE fireworks end. And for the extra late-night revelers, trains should resume service in the 3 a.m. or early 4 a.m. hour depending on your stop or the line. Get complete schedule information on dart.org.

Buy your transit tickets in advance with the GoPass mobile ticketing application.

On Wednesday, Jan. 1, DART buses, rail and paratransit will operate on a Sunday schedule. Please note that additional service will be in place to serve Fair Park Station, where the Heart of Dallas Bowl will be kicking off at 11 a.m. at the Historic Cotton Bowl. The TRE will not operate and DART’s administrative offices will be closed.

You guys seriously can’t run 24 hour trains for a single night of the year? Come on, DART. It’s time to grow up and act like a big city transit agency.

That would be great; but the last train is at 2am and then New Year’s day is Sunday service which means the trains will be running again by 4:30am so chill at a 24hrs breakfast spot “sober up” and head home at 4:30am. Sounds like a perfect way to ring in the New Year to me…

AND… you notice they say *nothing* about buses after midnight!! Last year, it was only the light rail lines that had special extra service–not the buses. If I had decided to fall for the speil and decided to be downtown and then try to get home, I would have had to take a cab because the bus route closest to me was only running one more bus, and I wouldn’t have made it!! This year, I’m not able to look into the theory since I have to work tonight. Well, happy NYE to all, and hope that DART doesn’t pull a fast (or slow?) one on you…..
